August R. `Bob` Wentland , Age 70


February 11, 1954 --March 26, 2024

August R. “Bob” Wentland, age 70, of Rock Springs, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. 

Bob was born to August and LaVern (Barkow) Wentland on February 11, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana. He married Gladys G. Groth on August 16, 2011 in Sauk County, Baraboo. He was a commercial roofer, worked at Pecks Hatchery, and Flambeau. Bob and Gladys picked apples together at Pierce’s Apple Orchard. Bob liked to hunt and fish, especially ginseng hunting. He always enjoyed being in the woods and gardening. He also enjoyed buying storage units and reselling the items he found inside them. 

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; his sister, Valerie Park and her sons, Nathan Fredrick, Jeff Fredrick, and Nathan Park; his brother-in-law, Jerry Groth; his nieces, Samantha Hoover and her daughter Claire Becker, Nicole (Brandon) Woider and their children Dominic and Emerson, Tess (Cory Ballweg) Rahman and their children Tenley and C.J., Shey (Cody) Roznos and their children Beau and Mila, Laura Ynsdahl, and Debbie Gibb. His best friends, Tony (Julie Pace) Uptagrow, Scott (Angie) Pyan and Bill Walsh. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Darlene (Johnnie) Nieman; his brothers, Calvin Wentland and David (Mona) Burdick; his uncle, Dwayne Ramaunt and his aunt, Edith Ramaunt. 

Per Bob’s wishes there will be no service. Inurnment will be private. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. 

The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
