Ronald G. Federman


Ronald "Ron" G. Federman, age 90 of Baraboo, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. We would like to thank all those who took care of Ron while there.Ron, the son of the late Herman and Agnes (Gall) Federman was born on December 22, 1928 in Baraboo. His father passed away when Ron was three so he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Ernest Rehbein. He was a graduate of Baraboo High School, Class of 1947. After graduation, he was compelled to serve his country and enlisted in the US Air Force. While stationed in Michigan, Ron was proud to have been hand selected to serve on the fire crash crew that escorted the Queen of England's plane on her visit to Windsor, Canada. After completing his three year tour of duty, he was reactivated and served another year. While on active duty between 1948 to 1952 , Ron was united in marriage to Beverly L. Johnson on June 6, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.He had worked with his stepfather at Rehbein Federman Heating and Sheet Metal and later became the sole owner of Federman's Auto Parts Store. Ron was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was very active in his community, including 41 years with the Baraboo Fire Department. For ten of those years he served as assistant Fire Chief and 19 distinguished years as the Chief. Ron also belonged to Baraboo Elk's Lodge #688, American Legion Post 26, and served with the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed partaking in the Badger Honor Flight to Washington DC. He also thoroughly enjoyed woodworking in his free time.Ron is survived by his wife Beverly of 67 years. His cousin's wife, Mary Gall, and his Godchild, Tracy Niles; special friends, Steve and Jeanne Pointon, Ralph and Joan Pierce, Ken and Sandy Pierce, Tom and Anna Sprecher, Jim and Linda Slezak as well as many special firemen, veterans and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baraboo Fire Department or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
