Angela `Angie` Stein , Age 52

September 24, 1969 --August 19, 2022

Angie Stein, known for her contagious smile and generous heart, died at home on Friday August 19, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. She was surrounded by her wife Jan and beloved dogs. Angie was 52 years young and had so much more living she wanted to do! She was excited to travel with her wife and dogs after Jans retirement earlier in August. Little did we all know how short our time with her would be. Her death reminds us to tell people what they mean to you, don't wait for the perfect momenttell them now!

Angie was born in Madison on September 24, 1969 to Jerry and Joni Stein. She made her sister, Sharel a big sister and became her forever friend and confidant.

Growing up in Shorewood Hills/Madison Angie attended West high school where she was Reggie Regent, the school mascot. She went on to attend UW Platteville, majoring in communication. After college she was employed by Dane County as a 911 dispatcher. Her empathetic ear, caring heart and quick thinking allowed her to be the calm voice on the phone for many as they called for help. As Mr Rogers said, "look for the helpers" Angie was one of them, touching many lives. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a Deputy with the Dane County Sheriff's Department. Angie volunteered her time with her dad, Jerry, on the Shorewood HIlls Fire Department as well.

Although her work gave Angie a sense of accomplishment it did not compare to her love of family and friends!

Angie's greatest love was her family. She was married for 25 years to her soulmate, Jan. Together they made a strong team. They made their home in Baraboo WI with their "kids", their fur babies. Angie could talk for hours about her Frenchies. They miss their mama.

Anyone who knew Angie, knew she had the BEST smile, a fabulous sense of humor, would yodel for you if you wanted, or not, and could quote from just about any movie. She would raise her glass with you and at times share a good cigar.Angie lived her life to the fullest always.

Angie is survived by her wife Jan Hamer and her beloved pups. Parents, Jerry and Joni Stein, Sister, Sharel (Dan) Nelson, Nephews, Conrad and Riley (girlfriend Noel) and Niece Clara; In-Laws Em (Bill) Irish, Bill (Lois) Hamer, Brother-In-Law Rob (DeeAnne) Hamer, Nieces Brittany and Alexis, and Nephews Will and Kal. Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents Harry and Nan Christenson and Emil and Gyn Schmale.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 10, 2022 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home 401 Madison Ave, Baraboo WI with visitation from 11:00am until 1:00pm followed immediately by the service.

Please help us celebrate Angie by wearing a fun shirt, hat or Hawaiian shirt.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at UW Hospital and a special shout out to Nurse Risa and the care team on D4/5 , Dr Raza and his team and Heartland Hospice for wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angie and Jan's account at Adam's Marquette Vet Clinic for the continued care of their pets. W8881 WI 82, Oxford, WI 53952 (608) 586-5768.

Goodbyes are not forever, they are not the end.

They simply mean I will miss you until we meet again.

Dearest Jan and the pups, Wow this is a hard one! I love you and Ang, She will be terribly missed but the picture on this post says it all! She looks great! This is the smile I saw on her face every time I got to see you guys! She always made a bad day good, she made the room brighter when she walked in. I loved her jokes and they would crack me up, it was even funnier when she’d crack up too!! Ill miss her tremendously and I know she’s looking down on and saying “don’t shed a tear for me just a big ole smile” because that’s the kind hearted sole she was!!
