Judith Anne Flinchum , Age 82


April 16, 1941 --July 30, 2023

Judith Anne Flinchum, 82, of Portage, WI, passed away in hospice care with her family on July 30th, 2023. Judy was born on April 16th, 1941, to Harold and Gertrude Schuett in Evanston, IL. She was raised in Wilmette, IL, and considered herself one of the "Ridge Runners" She graduated from New Trier East High School in 1959. She is survived by her two siblings Laurie (Keith) Leitner, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and Mickey (Mary) Schuett, Broomfield, Colorado.

Judy had an adventuring spirit and went to South Dakota and participated in archeological digs for dinosaur and mammoth fossils. She loved traveling to Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado to explore Native American culture, pan for gold, and search for fossils. Judy spent many years hunting and finding rocks and artifacts throughout Wisconsin with her partner John and their dog Poosho. She loved animals and loved to feed the birds and squirrels. She also created a beautiful garden where she lived in Portage. She lived life on her own terms.

Judy is survived by her daughter Sandra J Flinchum Martin (Robert) and son Phillip J Flinchum (Cindy). Judy's five grandchildren, Shaina Flinchum, Sophie Braatz (Chris), Jonathan "Jack" Flinchum, Phillip Flinchum, and Mark Flinchum lovingly called her Nanny.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at the Gathering Place Red Oak Room at the South Shore of Devils Lake State Park, 5975 S Park Road, Baraboo, WI 53913. We ask that you wear something red to honor Judy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Indian Foundation.com
