Homer Heslep , Age 92


July 23, 1931 --January 26, 2024

Homer ‘Tex’ Heslep, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 26, 2024 at SSM Hospice House in Baraboo. 

Homer, the son of Hugh and Hilda (Bourland) Heslep was born on July 23, 1931 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Homer graduated from Corpus Christie High School in 1950. He served his country in the Air Force; entered as a private in 1954 and voluntarily retired as a sergeant in 1971. He married Arlene Mahl in Elkhorn, Wisconsin on August 4, 1958. He enjoyed playing chess and was a proficient guitar player in a country band called Broken Spur. 

He is survived by his sister, Cynthia (Thomas); his brother Bobby (Doris); children, Sara (Michael), Daniel, Rebecca and his other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene of 60 years, in 2022; his parents; his brother, Jim (Kathy); his sister, Pearl (Albert) Wilson, and his son, David in 1978. 

A special thanks goes to the staff at SSM Hospice house and to Denny D. Kowalke for one final concert.                                  

There will be no service. Instead plans might be made for A Celebration Of Life.
