Jon Philip Bump

Jon Philip Bump, age 84, of Fairfield Township passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at SSM Hospice House in Baraboo. 

Jon was born on August 15, 1939 to Philip and Margaret (Henry) Bump at St. Mary’s Ringling Hospital in Baraboo. He was a lifelong farmer in Fairfield. The family farm was his favorite place. Besides farming, he enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with his sons. 

Jon is survived by his sons, Mark Bump, Brian (Laura Hargraves) Bump; his sisters, Maureen (Orville) Haas, Deborah (Bruce) Nowak; his niece, Kimberly (William) Bump Stuber and other nieces and nephew; his cousins, Richard Schoenoff, Sherry Brown, Linda Otis, Jacyn West, David, Steve, and Judi Henry, other relatives and dear friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Bump; brother, Lance Bump; cousin, Kay Pilger and ex-spouse Judy Joy Bump. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at New Life Community Advent Christian Church, 1919 Elizabeth St. in Baraboo. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Fairfield Cemetery.  The family requests attendees to wear their casual “farmer’s best”. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family which will be passed on to local organizations in Jon’s name. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the neighbors and friends who visited with Jon through his stay at the hospital and hospice house. He enjoyed everyone.
