Hattie Mae Klemm, age 21 months, passed away unexpectedly due to suspected heart complications on July 28, 2024, with her family by her side.
Hattie was one of the strongest little girls anyone had ever known. In her life she had gone through various minor operations, open heart surgery, and extended stays at American Family Children’s Hospital due to minor illnesses. One third of Hattie’s first year of life was in the hospital fighting to stay alive. Hattie was born with a genetic condition called Charge Syndrome, that was unfortunately a random mutation that was not caught until she was born. She fought every day and showed her family just how strong she was even with all the uphill battles in her life such as vision, hearing, heart, kidneys, overall development and so much more.
Hattie is survived by her parents, Ryder & Sabel Klemm of Baraboo; siblings, Ireland (5) and Henry (8 Months); maternal grandmother, Kari Emrath (Arnold Seifert) of Heartland; paternal grandparents, Scott & Tonya Klemm of Baraboo; paternal great-grandparents, David Zeman, and Lynette (Junior) Gurgel; aunt, Tarah (Daniel Kaiser) Kaiser-Zaffiro; uncle, Eli (Kayanna Staveness) Klemm; cousins, Daviney Zaffiro, Ty Murray, Maxx Murray, OakLee Marotz, MaKenna Klemm and many other extended family members whom loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Anthony (Tony) Zaffiro; uncle, Levi Zaffiro; maternal great-grandparents, John (Jack) Zaffiro, Ora (Kitty) Froelich, Lee & Eileen Emrath and her paternal great-grandparents, Clifford & Beth Klemm of Baraboo.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home in Baraboo. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Baraboo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
The family would like to thank the American Family Children’s Hospital, Dr. Maribeth Baker of Prairie Clinic, and Sauk County Birth To 3 Program (Emily Lugo, Kate Moody, and Kathie Larson) for their phenomenal care in aiding Hattie’s parents throughout her life in raising a child with complex special needs.
