Peggy J. Gruber , Age 76
Peggy (Deyo) Gruber, age 76, of Baraboo, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at her home.
Peggy was born on June 2, 1949 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Jane (Erwin) Deyo. Peggy married Harold “Herman” Gruber on December 9, 1972. Prior to marriage, she resided in Hawaii and California, both of which she enjoyed. Peggy completed her training as a Respiratory Therapist and dedicated many of service to St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo before retiring.
Peggy was known for her compassion and dedication to helping others. As the oldest girl of 15 children, Peggy took her big sister role to the max, always being there for her siblings. Peggy took on any obstacle that came her away with grace, despite of her disability. Peggy loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed activities such as reading, gardening, relaxing at Devils Lake, exploring new places, and visiting Ho-Chunk.
She is survived by her husband, Herman; six brothers, Rodney (Sue), Sam, Tom (Sara), Terry (Michelle), all of Baraboo, Brian (Erika) of St. Cloud, MN, and Curtis of Baraboo, WI; sisters, Dixie Garske of Portage, Becky (Tom) Griffin of Faribault, MN, Cathy Schadde of Grafton, WI, Patti (Roger) Halverson of Verona, WI, and Connie (Jason) Deyo-Bisch of Baraboo, WI; sisters-in-law, Becky Deyo of Apple River, IL, Laurie Hargarves of Baraboo and brother-in-law, Kenny Gruber of Baraboo. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mary Jane Deyo; brothers, Delvin and Dennis Deyo; sister, Carol Deyo; and niece, Michelle Griffin.
Funeral Services for Peggy will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Peggy was such a dear friend. So many fun times together. So many wonderful memories,, especially those of playing games of croquet and that darn slope of grass. We visited my sister in California one year~ what a trip! Peggy would do anything to help someone even if it was just to listen. Dear Herman: You are such awonderful person. You will miss her so much. Your marriage was so very special throughout the years. Thinking of you with lots of hugs and love.
