Gary G. Gabel , Age 80

February 24, 1945 --September 13, 2025

Gary G. Gabel, passed away at the age of 80, on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Meadow View Senior Living in Baraboo, due to complications of Parkinson’s. Gary, son of Emmanuel and Doris (Procknow) Gabel, was born on February 24, 1945, in Milwaukee. After graduating from high school, he pursued further education at Milwaukee Technical College and Career Academy. On September 20, 1969, Gary married the love of his life, Linda Hackbarth. Gary spent his career working as a District Sales Manager for Madison Newspapers Inc.

Gary loved his Lord with all his heart, and trusted Him always. His faith never wavered.

Gary loved his family and friends, and was so thankful for all they did for him. He considered their help his greatest accomplishment.  It wasn’t what he did, but what was done for him.

He was an active member of Emanuel Church in Baraboo.  He loved his church and church family.

Gary loved to visit with his friends, and strangers, and also to laugh and joke.

He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and church softball league.

The Milwaukee Brewers were his passion, but his pride and joy was his daughter Amy, son-in-law, Jason, and granddaughters, Annika and Braylee.

He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Linda; daughter, Amy (Jason) Schultz; granddaughters, Annika and Braylee Schultz; sister-in-law, Judy (Ken) Mastenbrook; nephews, Ryan and Brett Mastenbrook; great-nephews, Evan, Chase, Brayden, and Bryce Mastenbrook; great-niece, Marissa Mastenbrook; as well as other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel and Doris.

Gary’s family would like to thank the Meadow View staff, Pastor Ron Bupp, Dr. Krszjzaniek, and the hospice caregivers for all of their amazing love and care.

Please join us in the Celebration of his life at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Emanuel Church, 101 14th St., Baraboo, with Pastor Ron Bupp officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. Heaven is now his home. A private burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3
