Harlyn Gene `Bud` Braun , Age 89


July 10, 1936 --October 31, 2025

Harlyn Gene “Bud” Braun, age 89, of North Freedom, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025 at St. Clare Care and Rehab Center in Baraboo. Bud was born on July 10, 1936 to Edwin and Anna (Schlieckau) Braun in rural Leland.  He was a graduate from Prairie du Sac High School.   On July 29, 1978, Bud was united in marriage to Bonnie (McCoy) Anstett.

Bud spent his career as a carpenter, owning and operating Braun Construction for nearly 50 years. In his free time, Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports.

Bud is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; sons, Alan (Cathy) Braun and Steve (Tammy) Braun; stepson, Gregory (Jennifer) Anstett; stepdaughter, Kelly Anstett; grandchildren, Jed (Andrea) Braun, Abraham (Jacki) Braun, Danielle (Derick) Smith, Hannah (Brad) Burmesch, Adam (Jessica) Braun, and Amanda (Jason) Jones; 4 step-grandchildren, Casey (Nicky) Anstett, Sam Anstett, Adeline (Ethan) Vodak, and Chloe Zimmer; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Anna; brother, Verlyn (Violet) Braun; sisters, Rosalyn (Bill) Happle, Arlene (John) Clapper; his daughter, Becky Braun and his grandson, Elijah Braun

Private inurnment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Bud’s name. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
