James Michael “Jim” Matuszak, age 60, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, after he lost his fight with COPD.
Jim was born on March 27, 1965, in Manitowoc. He grew up in Two Rivers where he enjoyed fishing with high school friends and walking in the woods behind the house. He graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers, Class of 1983. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service, he received the Rifle Expert Badge, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He had a rank of Corporal upon his honorable discharge.
Throughout the years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a love for the great outdoors and his dogs, Reba and Bear. He loved living in the Wisconsin Dells area, which is where he met many of his lifelong friends. He was a caring man that would do anything for anyone. When not working or helping a friend, you could find him sitting around a campfire, sharing stories, smiles, and listening to music with close friends and family. He was especially a great brother, uncle, great-uncle, father and a friend to many. He was the best big brother that someone could want. He will be sadly missed.
Per Jim’s wish, there will be no services at this time.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. Once the date/time has been set, it will be announced on this website.
“I love you and miss you, Jim. Ooo-rah big brother.” - your baby sister, Sherri

We met Jim 5 years ago when we moved here. He was a good neighbor and friend always willing to help out when needed with a project, we always enjoyed our time watching the dogs play together. We are saddened that we have lost a friend and we only knew him for 5 years. You will be missed my friend.

So very sorry for your loss ! It’s just so very sad Jim struggled so much. He was such a smart guy & multi-talented. Whatever job he had to do he did his very best. He & I would share stories & update each other on the wildlife in the area that came thru our yards We’ll miss seeing Jim come walking across the field to our house ready to do whatever was on the agenda that day. As well as Bear coming to visit as he snooped around Take care Judy

Great man. Full of stories of his past memories. Very appreciative, also always willing to teach and learn. He has been a part of our home and family past few years. Was always welcomed and fed each other. The Thursday before his passing he brought over some Christmas. Decors to add to the decors at our home. It was very interesting that decors he given as gifts matched and finished the sets to our decors. But the most interesting item in the gifts was an ornament he given us read this statement “A friend is God’s way of showing us we don’t have to walk alone “ it was in a heart shaped reef along with another ornament that stated love in the center of a star. Jim will be missed dearly by his community of neighbors especially God Bless
