Wilbur Edward `Slim` Pyan

Wilbur Edward “Slim” Pyan, age 86, of North Freedom, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at SSM St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Slim was born on April 5, 1940 to Edwin and Gertrude (Oelke) Pyan in Wausau, WI.

Slim was a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing, visiting Ho-Chunk Casino, and taking long country drives. Slim often shared stories of growing up on his family’s 120-acre farm in Wausau. One of his favorite memories was spending months each year exploring the farm to find the perfect Christmas tree to cut down.

Slim is survived by his three children, Scott Pyan, Kimberly L. Brown, and Dawn Pyan; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Naomi Lou (Markley) Pyan; brother, Harold Pyan; sister, Marie Wenzel; and his beloved dog, Dallas.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sauk County Humane Society.
