Robert `Bob` Sloan

Robert Sloan, 98, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Bob was born in Warrenville, Illinois, on July 25, 1928, to Joseph and Ethel Sloan. He married Laura Hanson on August 14, 1965, and they shared more than 61 years together.

Bob and Laura began their family in Lake Bluff, Illinois, welcoming their daughter, Kristin, in 1968, and their son, Scott, in 1970. Bob worked as a television repairman for Highwood TV and Radio. In 1980, a help-wanted ad in the Chicago Tribune for a position at Isenberg’s True Value brought the family to Baraboo, where they made their home. After retiring from Isenberg’s, Bob continued working as a delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts.

Bob was one of the most gentle and easygoing people you could ever meet. He enjoyed model trains, coin collecting and ham radio, and especially looked forward to attending the Badger Steam & Gas Engine Show.

He also had a well-established appreciation for life’s little indulgences: a donut every morning for breakfast and ice cream every night.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Laura; his daughter, Kristin Hardy (David), and her children, Rachel Brown (Alberto), Alexis Brown (Byron) and Jacob Brown; his son, Scott Sloan (Tiffany), and their children, Peyton Sloan and Wyatt Sloan; and his four great-grandchildren, Riley, Lyla, Margot and Arlo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois Sloan, and many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Bob will be remembered for his kind nature, easygoing spirit, quiet humor and the warmth he brought to the lives of those around him. His family will cherish the memories of his 98 years and the simple, everyday moments that made him so special.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, with a private family service to follow.
