Iona Diske

Iona C. Diske, age 98 of Rock Springs, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo.Iona, the daughter of the late George and Katherine (Zick) Lehman, was born on August 21, 1914 in the Township of Honeycreek. On November 28, 1935, she was united in marriage to Wilbert Diske. He preceded her in death in 1984. Iona had been a homemaker her entire married life. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, caring for her chickens and cats, and watching the birds. Most of all, she enjoyed dancing.She is survived by her children, Wallace (Rose) Diske of North Freedom, and Dorothy (Duane) Behnke of Rock Springs; her grandchildren, Terry (Audrey) Diske of Rock Springs, Christine (Jim) Bell of Hillpoint, Glenda (Lane) Wake of North Freedom, and Erin Crusan of Seattle, WA; her great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Trenton Diske, Jacob (fiance` Megan), Cody, and Tessa Bell, and Emilie and Sadie Wake; sisters-in-law, Florence Montague of New Berlin and Evie (George) Marks of Pennsylvania; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and her husband, Iona was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth and Norine.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Jonathan Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sauk County Humane Society.
