Gertrude L. Accola

Gertrude L. (Platt) Accola of Baraboo, passed on to her heavenly home on Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center at the age of 87.Gertrude was born on April 6, 1926 in the town of Baraboo to Erwin and Hilda (Harman) Platt. She was united in marriage to Ivan Accola at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Baraboo on January 20, 1951. Gertrude had been employed by Badger Ordnance and Reinkings. After their marriage, they owned and operated Aire Vista Motel in Lake Delton for 14 years. Gert had been a member of GOFF (Girls of Forty-Four) and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.She is lovingly survived by her husband of 62 years, Ivan Accola of Baraboo; three children, Carol (Len) Wagner of Baraboo, Ken (Barb) Accola of DeForest, and Susie (Dwain) Robb of Murphy, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lori (Devin) Atkinson, Cristy (Marcus) Krueger, Tina (C. J.) Edwards, Andrew Accola, Shawn (Nicole) Robb, Kimberly (David) Chase, Noah Robb, Elijah (Kori) Robb, and Caleb Robb; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Ropers and Ida Mae Erickson; other relatives and friends.Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Esther Griffin; and 5 brothers-in-law, Lester Marquardt, Leonard Ropers, Chet Schluter, Emil Erickson, and Art Griffin.A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 3 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emanuel United Methodist Church or St. Clare Meadows Care Center. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
