Daniel "Dan" Licht


Daniel "Dan" Licht, age 61 of North Freedom passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 while working in the field. Dan, son of Marvin H. and Ruth (Shimniok) Licht was born April 26, 1952 in Baraboo. On May 26, 1973 he was united in marriage to Judy Vielhuber at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo. Dan's passion was farming. He thought every farmer was an environmentalist or he shouldn't be in the business. Dan was a beekeeper for 50 years. In addition to beekeeping, Dan was a crop farmer for many years and most recently was an orchardist. He could fix anything. He was a good, decent, caring man who lived what he believed. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa. Dan was a great teacher. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo for over 50 years. Dan was a member of Sauk-Columbia Honey Producers where he held the office of President for many years. He always made time to help or visit friends and family. Dan will be missed by everyone.He is survived by, his wife, Judy of North Freedom; son, Andrew Licht of North Freedom; daughter, Kari (Michael) Dineen of Milwaukee; grandson, Aiden Dineen of Milwaukee; mother, Ruth Licht of North Freedom; sisters, Shirley (James) Roecker of Reedsburg, Linda (Ron) Green of Winneconne; brother-in-law, Richard (Dianne) Vielhuber of Mazomaine; sister-in-law, Linda Vielhuber of LaCrosse; in-laws, Anthony (Ersel) Vielhuber of Rock Springs; as well as nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin H. Licht and brother, Marvin D. Licht.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.
