William Albert Lehman Jr.


William Albert Lehman, Jr., age 100, of Merrimac passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Heartland Country Village Nursing Home in Black Earth. William, son of William and Meta (Rump) Lehman was born on Feb. 13, 1913 in Baraboo. On May 11, 1946 he was united in marriage to Cora Ellen George at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo; she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2006. William worked for over 38 years for the Chicago Northwest Railroad, and received the 60year merit award with Brotherhood of maintenance of way employees. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. He was a lifetime member VFW Post 2336 in Baraboo. He was also a member of Merrimac Immanuel Lutheran Church. In his free time, William enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, picking out hickory nuts and making latch hooked rugs.He is survived by his children, Elaine (Roger) Lamberty of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Jean (Frederick) Evert of Merrimac; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Potterville of Racine; as well as nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora; brothers, Carl, Fred, August, Lester and Alfred; sisters, Anna, Helen, Amelia, Viola and Marie; as well as his granddaughter, Tammy Lamberty.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Merrimac Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac with Pastor Mary Pharmer officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave., Baraboo. Continued visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 12 (noon) until time of service at the church. Burial will follow service in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Merrimac. Military rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard.
