Frederick William Martin


Frederick William Martin was gently delivered into the hands of God on Monday, July 1, 2013. Fred was born on June 18, 1925, the third child of Marion and Millie Martin. He proudly served on the destroyer, The USS O'Bannon, during WWII. After returning from his tour of duty, he began a career in the shoe business beginning at Hanson's Shoe Store and retiring as the owner of the Baraboo Bootery. Fred was also well known for his love of automobiles.He is survived by his loving companion, Helen Meske, and her family; Pauline (James) Deitrich, Ronnie Dorow, and Debbie (Jeff) Alsip. He is further survived by his daughter, Susan (Jeff) Langbecker; sister, Mary (Don) Johnson and brother-in-law, Richard Hanson as well as other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; sisters, Mildred and Aida; as well as Helen's family members, Edward Dorow, Julius Geisser and Patty Deitrich.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. with Pastor Jonathan Tipton officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Viroqua Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted.
