Lillian C. (Nelson) Catterson

Lillian C. (Nelson) Catterson, 90, of Baraboo was reunited with her beloved husband in eternal rest, on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at the St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, surrounded by her family. On Nov. 11, 1923 Lillian was born the daughter of Oscar and Jane (Knutson) Nelson, on the family farm outside of Wisconsin Dells. Lillian was married to Marcel Catterson for 62 years, he preceded her in death in 2008. She was taught at a young age the value of respect and a strong work ethic. She worked in housekeeping at Jefferson Meadows, now St. Clare Meadows, until she was 80 years old. Lillian was the type of person that always saw the good side of a bad situation. She loved children, and even got to meet her first great-grandchild the morning before passing away. Lillian had a kind heart for anyone in need of help. She rehabbed many birds and small animals back to health; she also helped with many church dinners, activities, and fund raisers. For many years, she was also a cub and girl scout leader. She loved making crafts, telling stories, and singing; and had a great passion for reading. She had a wonderful gathering of family and friends for her 90th birthday. Lillian is survived by her five children, Dennis (Marilyn) Catterson, Kenneth (Jamie) Catterson, Phil (Carrie) Catterson, Edward (Christy) Catterson, and Pamela (Mark) Selje; 11 grandchildren, Nathan, Kimberly, Kevin, Sara, Ryan, Valerie, Justin, John, James, Jacob, and Lauren; one great-grandson, Tyler; sister, Jeanette Weidner; as well as many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marty; brothers, Lawrence, Henry, and Vernon; and sisters, Ethel and Helen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, at the church. Burial will follow the service in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Baraboo. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to her friends and staff at Meadow Ridge and Dr. Kryszjzaniek and the nursing staff at St. Clare Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
