Cathleen R. Wagner


Cathleen R. Wagner, 62, went to be with her Maker on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Cathy was born on October 10, 1951 in Baraboo, WI at St. Clare Hospital to Victor and Marie (Donovan) Carney of Sumpter Township. Cathy graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1969 and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1973. Cathy married Thomas Wagner on November 15, 1975 in a family ceremony at Durward's Glen in Baraboo. They lived and worked in Sheboygan, WI for 3 years and then Milwaukee and Cedarburg, WI for 35 years. While in Cedarburg, she was elected president of the League of Women Voters, to the Cedarburg School Board, and the prime mover in the construction of the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center. While at Manpower, Inc., she became manager of the Milwaukee Field Office. Cathy and Tom loved to travel and see the wonders of the world. In 1977 they traveled around the world which took over one year to accomplish. In her lifetime she has visited upwards of 50 countries. In 2011, they retired, bought a motorhome and toured the US and Canada, stopping along the way to help build homes for Habitat for Humanity.Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Father Robert Carney. Cathy is survived by her husband Tom and their son Victor of Nashville, TN., sister Julie and Paul Troiber of Tomahawk, WI, brother Jim Carney of Sauk Praire, WI, sister Margaret and John Crahen of Baraboo WI, and many nieces and nephews. Her endless generosity, passion for hospitality and expertise to take on a variety of projects, whether it was coordinating the annual Wagner family Christmas cookie bake, leading a troop of Boy Scouts through the Boundary Waters at summer camp and multiple outstanding home renovation projects. She met every challenge with strength and courage. Cathy's greatest love was always for her family and friends.Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00am at Emanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service. Friends may also call on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo, WI at 101 Fourteenth Street. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
