Robert Litscher


Robert Howard (Bob) Litscher passed away Mar. 23 after almost 90 years of life in Baraboo, Wis.the area where he grew up, raced ponies, pulled horses at the county fair, fell in love, raised a family, ran a dairy farm and enjoyed his horses and carriage.Bob was born on April 20, 1924 near Baraboo, Wis. He grew up on a stretch of prairie known as Sumpter between Baraboo and Prairie du Sac, surrounded with farm work, horses and the love of his parents Mae (Tooley) and John C. and his five siblings, Lorene, LeRoy, Evelyn, John and Elaine.Bob met the love of his life and other half, Marjorie Dineen, on a blind date his sister Elaine set up at the local dance hall in 1949. The two were married on Sept. 29, 1951. They raised their children Kristine, Karen and Kurt with the same Litscher tradition of love and family.Bob's unwavering spirit, perseverance and genuine interest in people will forever inspire his family and loved ones.He loved his wife and children, brothers and sisters, and horsesnot always in that order.Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie, his daughters, Kristine Litscher-Lee (Brian) and Karen Litscher Johnson (Daniel), daughter-in-law, Margaret Walczak, and six grandchildren, Megan and Meredith Lee, John Litscher, Sarah, Jack and Emma Johnson, sisters Evelyn Trager and Elaine Pierce, brother, John, sister-in-laws Joann Litscher, Joyce Litscher, and Bonnie Nachreiner, nieces and nephews, and close family friend Christy Luther. He was preceded in death by son Kurt; sister, Lorene Harrison; brother and best friend, LeRoy, and his parents.Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the church; continued visitation will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10a.m. until the time of service, also at the church. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sauk County Fair. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
