George L. Rambo


George Leland Rambo, age 94, died at home on Thursday, April 10, 2014, surrounded by his family. George, the son of Argus and Edna (Morrow) Rambo, was born on August, 31, 1919 in Van Buren Township, Iowa. He and Lottie Hansen were married in 1943. George proudly served in the Army Air Corp in WWII; where he was in the Battle of the Bulge. He had since been a life member of the Greenwood Chapter of the VFW. He was an Electrical Engineer and assistant manager at Eagle Signal. He also started a medical supply business in Baraboo. George served on the Governors Manpower Board, Library Board, he was also the President of Kiwanis and United Way. He volunteered for many community projects and was awarded the Man of the Year Award. George was also an active member at the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, and the outdoors. George is survived by his wife, Lottie; two sons, Jerry and Jeff Rambo; two daughters, Betty (Doug) Skapyak and Barbara (Glenn) Rambo-Hartley; five grandchildren, Nicholas Rambo, Christina (Renier) Hillebrink, Michael (Katie) Skapyak, Mariah (Matt) Solchenburger, and Grant Hartley; and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a nephew. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Donna Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at the church. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Baraboo or the Baraboo Public Library. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
