Lawrence "Wes" Howell


Lawrence "Wes" Howell, age 82, of Endeavor went home to Jesus on Saturday, April 12, 2014, surrounded by family, after a struggle with cancer.Wes was born April 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Lawrence and Temmie (Jennings) Howell. Wes graduated from Argo High School in Argo, IL, attended Northern Illinois University and Greer Tech in Chicago. From 1951 to 1953, he served his country in the Army spending 13 months in Korea, following which he graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. He taught math at Glenbrook High School, Northbrook, IL, from 1958 to 1964 and at New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL from 1964 until retiring in 1988. He faithfully and actively served his lord in many areas.He was united in marriage to Marilyn (Burke) Howell in Winthrop, MA on September 10, 1955, who survives him. Four children blessed their union; Deborah (Bill) Corbett Gurnee, IL, Douglas (Denise) Mukwonago, WI, Greg (Carleen) Minneapolis, MN, and Keith (Sharon) Lakeville, MN; nine grandchildren, Ruth, Rebecca, Mary, and Samuel, all of Minneapolis, MN, Curtis, Courtney, and Darin of Mukwonago, WI, and Dana and Brooke of Lakeville, MN. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Roger (Maddie) Burke of Ipswich, MA and Larry Burke of St. Petersburg, FL; as well as, sister-in-law Judith Burke of Ocean Grove, NJ. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws.A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Bible Church with Pastor Dave Hutchens officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A private burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
