Marlene J. Kent


Marlene Joyce Kent, age 81, of Baraboo passed away on Wed. Dec. 31, 2014 at Our House Senior Living in Reedsburg. She was born the daughter of Wilber and Doris (Arner) Cahoon on August 25, 1933 in Baraboo. Marlene was united in marriage to William "Bill" C. Kent on September, 12, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Baraboo.Marlene was a High School graduate of the Wisconsin Dells High School. After high school Marlene waitressed at The Alpine in both Lake Delton and Baraboo. She was employed at Industrial Coils and went on to work as a seamstress at Snowhite Garment Corporation for many years; prior to her retirement she worked at Reinkings Department Store. During her retirement, Marlene along with her husband Bill, would enjoy half of the year in Baraboo and spent the other half of the year in Mellen, WI. Together they would enjoy the land of the Chequamegon National Park which surrounded their property. They took full advantage of the outdoors where the fished, hunted, and took lots of picnics. Marlene also enjoyed painting and collecting various glassware. Marlene had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Baraboo for 63 years.Marlene is survived by her children, William S. Kent, Karen (Joe) Litscher, Linda Kent, and Carol (Jeff) Gray; son-in-law, Bart Reece; 11 grandchildren, Jason and Jon Kent, Julie (Sean) Goodman, Jeanette (Paul) Rock, Lisa and Jenny Reece, Ryan Geertsma, Kara (Brad) Bruenig, Laura (Adam Zdenek) Gray, Julie (Brian Bogie) Gray, and Eric Gray; 7 great-grandchildren and another expected in January 2015; as well as a sister, Karen (Richard) Tremain. She is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Susan Reece; siblings, Claude (Ival) Cahoon and Jean (Eugene) Blood; in-laws, Lester and Genevieve Kent, Clayton (Babe) Kent, Mary (Charles) Doro, and Lorraine (Melvin Olson.Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Baraboo with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Burial will immediately follow services at the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorial may be to the family. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
