Cameron “Ty” Sandmire


Cameron "Ty" Sandmire of North Freedom passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at St. Clare Hospice House at the age of 89.Ty, son of Glen and Bernadine (Patch) Sandmire was born March 26, 1925 in Richland County. He graduated from Deerfield High School. In 1945 he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged on Dec. 28, 1946. On Dec. 20, 1947 he was united in marriage to Audrey Tooley. They farmed and ran Tuck-A-Way Campground together for over 56 years. Ty also worked for 10 years at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. He was a long time member of Emanuel United Methodist Church.He is survived by his children, Carmen (Jim Reed) Feight, Karen Sandmire and Craig (Jean) Sandmire; three grandchildren, Shelly (Chuck) Hooper, Amanda and Austin Sandmire; great-grandchildren, Paige and Parker Hooper; siblings, Herbert (Crys) Sandmire, Janet Frost, Vaughn Sandmire; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey on Oct. 15, 2007; an infant daughter and five siblings.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Emanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial with Military Rites will be held at Blackhawk Cemetery.
