Theadora Esther "Teddy" Neumann

Theadora Esther Neumann "Teddy", "Nanie", passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb 8, 2015 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo. She was born on Jan. 22, 1919 to John and Helen (Cwik) Sypucinski in Chicago, and was the youngest of seven children. She met and married a handsome naval pilot, Alfred Neumann, at Otis Field, Camp Edwards, Massachusetts on Dec. 5, 1944.Teddy enjoyed her years as an officer's wife, living on several different naval bases. Once Al's active duty concluded at the end of WWII, the couple, along with their daughter settled on Chicago's Southside. Teddy had several different occupations including her favorites, working in a defense plant, hostessing at a night club and managing a physician's office for 15 years. What Teddy will be remembered for most will be her caring nature. She always had an open room ready for anyone that needed a place to stay and over the years shared her home with both family and friends and was always first to ask, "What do you need?". She enjoyed many hobbies including beachcombing, ceramics, crocheting, playing cards, Yahtzee, baking, and fishing. After retirement she and Al moved to Michigan but wanted to be closer to family and relocated to Lake Redstone, Wisconsin. They looked forward to their winters in the south but were happiest when they were able to do what they loved most, enjoy "the kids" at the lake. Teddy is survived by her loving daughter, Arline Van Duyse; her son-in-law, Frank Van Duyse; her devoted grandchildren, Sharon (Wayne) Maffei, Michael (Jeannie) Ciesynski, Kim (Jerry) Cusack, and Tracey (Kelly) Bale; her cherished great-grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Maffei, Bryan Maffei, Mandy (Brett) Schmit, Michaela Ciesynski, Jake (Katelyn) Ciesynski, Kevin Cusack, Nikki (Tony) Konsitzke Matthew Cusack, Jonathan, Jared and Joshua LaPointe; great-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Colin Maffei, as well as two expected great-great-grandchildren.
