Mikkel "Mik" L. Anderson


Mikkel "Mik" L. Anderson, age 70, of Baraboo passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Hospice House, after a very long illness, with his family by his side. Mik was born on Aug. 1, 1944 to Ike and Anna (Tangen) Anderson in Eau Claire, where he grew up. He was united in marriage to Sheila Swanson on Feb. 6, 1989 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.Mik was a loving husband; a very gentle man, loving all of nature. He enjoyed planting beautiful trees and flowers, always saving the seeds for the next year; his wife would call him "seed man". Mik enjoyed watching NASCAR, boating, and especially canoeing. He was an avid reader, who read many books, but his favorite author was Louis La'Moire.Mik owned and operated the Alpine Cafe in Baraboo for 20 years. After selling the restaurant he moved on to work for May and Todd Weiss at the Log Cabin; there he worked as a line and cook and a baker; eventually retiring in 2012.He will be missed by everyone who knew him, especially his wife Sheila and longtime friends Paul Meyer and Becky Giebel.Mik is survived by his wife, Sheila; children Christie Hardman and James "Jimmy" Anderson; step-daughter, Lynette Nickel; step-son, Scott Nickel; six grandchildren, Madison "Maddie" Hardman, Donovan Flores, Mai Garcia, Meaghan and Tyler Nickel, and Demitri Price. He is further survived by his brother, Mark Anderson; and three nephews, Trey (Lindsay), Christopher and Tim Anderson; as well as other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.A Memorial Service will held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo or to the family. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Clare Hospice House for their wonderful care and compassion.
