Gladys F. Getschman

Gladys Frieda Getschman, 78, of Baraboo passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Baraboo. She was born the daughter of Fred and Anna (Mellenthin) Petzke on August 2, 1936 in the Denzer area. Gladys was united in marriage to James Getschman on May 18, 1957.Gladys was a very active member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo; where she helped the Ladies Aid with luncheons and taught Sunday School. Her working career included teacher's aide in the elementary level, treasurer of the city of West Baraboo and the Excelsior Township. She also enjoyed volunteering; especially helping to restore the Al Ringling Theatre. Gladys spent her free time gardening, square-dancing, crocheting, and she was a great cook.Gladys is survived by her husband, James; children, Kendra (Wayne) Lipska and Brenda (John) Brokish; grandchildren, Michele (T.J.) Esser and Courtney (Steven) Dingfelder; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Alexis, Roman, and Zoey. She is further survived by her siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her parents.A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A brief graveside service will be held following services. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
