The remarkable and beautiful Betty Jane (Johnson) Borski, a woman of strong mind, spirit and opinion passed away late Friday, June 12, 2015.She was loved and appreciated by her children, Lynn (Randy) Webster, David (Janice Busse) Borski, Jean (Don) Rogers and Dan (Paula Riesch) Borski. Cherished by her grandchildren, Kevin (Rhonda) and Scott Rogers, Katrina and Jack Borski, and Dawn Riesch-Duchnowski, and was adored by her great grandchildren, Layne, Owen and Emma Rogers.Betty grew up in Waupaca WI, the youngest of 7 children. Her father, George, was a blacksmith and her mother, Axa, tended to the family. Having outlived all her siblings (Norman Sr., Edrys, Clifford, Phyllis and Bess), became the matriarch of the Johnson family presiding over last year's family reunion in Waupaca WI. She is further survived by her sister in law, Ceil Johnson; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. During WWII, Betty moved to Milwaukee where she worked at a motor castings company. While enjoying the camaraderie at the local bowling alley, she met a handsome GI, Edward Borski, just returning from the war. They fell in love, got married in Waupaca, where Betty & Ed started their family. In early 1957, the family moved to Baraboo where Betty held down the fort at home while Ed worked starting as a fire marshal, police officer then as a Sauk Co. Chief of Detectives. While making the home stable and warm, Betty also worked at JC Penney's for 26 years before they both started a long retirement together. Ed died in 2013, just 4 days before their 67th wedding anniversary. Betty loved being around her family and people of all sorts. She never shied away from a lively conversation. Her greatest joys were long family celebrations of holidays and birthdays where she became sad when the last person left. She was admired by many for her forthrightness, curiosity and sense of humor. Betty was the glue that held the Borski clan together for more than 60 years through many trials and tribulations. Being more of a "home-body" she lived surreptitiously through the travels and experiences of her family--The world will seem a less interesting place now that Betty won't be there to hear the stories and see the pictures. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm (Noon) on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Baraboo with Father Scott Seefeldt officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow services at the church. In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, memorials may be received for either the Baraboo Special Olympics, Camp Wawbeek in Wisc. Dells, or the Baraboo Trinity Episcopal Church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Clare Hospital and St. Clare Meadows, St. Mary's Hospital, and the Redlin Funeral Home for their loving care and compassion.
