Larry Zimmerman


Larry L. Zimmerman, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison surrounded by his family. He was born on February 16, 1939 to Roy and Dora (Ackerman) Zimmerman in Burke, South Dakota. Larry was united in marriage to Jean on August 2, 1968 in Rockford, Ill.Larry was employed by Warner-Lambert in Rockford, Ill for 20 years, before moving to Baraboo. Larry and Jean then owned and operated Zim's Inn in Baraboo for 25 years. He was the president of the Sauk County Tavern League, as well as on the Planning and Zoning Board for West Baraboo. Larry was a former member of the Elk's Club; as well as an avid bowler and Packer/Badger fan. After his retirement, Larry and Jean moved to Castle Rock Lake where Larry served as president of the Half Moon Bay Condo Association, and on the Sanitation Board for German Township. They returned to live in Baraboo a year ago. Larry is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Tonya (Steve) Stromquist of Roscoe, Ill and James (Bernice) Flatebo of Garden Grove, CA; five grandchildren, Abby and Erik Stromquist, and Lyle, Ted, and Michael Flatebo. He is further survived by his sister, Karen (Barrie) Larvin; sister-in-law, Gwen Zimmerman; as well as six nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ronald Zimmerman.A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will be held from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Baraboo First Responders and EMT's and the staff at St. Clare and St. Mary's Hospitals for their heroic efforts and compassion.
