Charles "Chuck" J. Mortensen, age 96, of Baraboo passed away at his home on Sunday December 27, 2015. He was born on March 12, 1919 to Wiggo and Pearl (Hemminway) Mortensen in Baraboo. Chuck was united in marriage to Evelyn Farr on December 6, 1941 in Baraboo.Chuck was an avid hunter and gardener. He enjoyed watching his grandson play ball. Chuck enjoyed attending concerts on the Square with his wife Evelyn before she passed. He always loved when his family came to visit especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chuck was a mechanic all of his life, he started his working career at Hanson Implement, he later worked for Smith Oil before starting his own business. He continued serving customers even throughout his retirement.Chuck is survived by ten children, Donald (Sandy) Mortensen, Dianne (Ken) Rathman, Karen Rathman, Thomas (Marge) Mortensen, Patricia (Jeff Kolls) Mortensen, David Mortensen, Richard Mortensen, Jeffrey (Shelly) Mortensen, Julie Mortensen, Kevin Mortensen. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Clara Harmel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friendsHe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; daughter, Kathaleen Sutton; grandson, Jeffery Mortensen; granddaughter, Tina Rathman; son-in-law, David Rathman; sisters, Emma, Mable, Carla, and Ella.Funeral Services will be held on Sunday January 3, 2016 at 1 P.M. at the Redlin Funeral Home with Travis Zick officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 2, 2016 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. and from noon until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at the Fairfield Cemetery.The family would like to thank the staff at Home Health United Hospice for their loving care.
