Dorothy Elaine Huinker


Dorothy Elaine Huinker, age 84 of Baraboo, passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Dorothy, daughter of Claude and Esther (Hochhaus) Fishel was born Feb. 4, 1931 in Littleport, Iowa. On Aug. 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Donald A. Huinker at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kansas City. After raising ten children she attended and graduated as an LPN from MATC in Madison. She worked as a LPN for many years at St. Clare Hospital and St. Clare Meadows until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, baking, and dancing. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. Above anything else she loved spending time with her family, especially the loving bond she had with her son, MarkShe is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Don of Baraboo; children, Don L. (Donna) Huinker of Baraboo, Mike (Judy) Huinker of Baraboo, Connie Huinker of Monona, IA, Claudia (Russ) Wright of Monona, IA, Cathy (Rick) Grove of Monona, IA, Mark Huinker of Baraboo, Joe (Renae) Huinker of Baraboo, Clare (Mike) Benzing of Monona, IA, Carol Prothero of Waunakee, Celeste (Arlan) Neuman of Baraboo; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as her brother, Robert Fishel of Edgewood, IA; sisters, Delores (Chuck) Wakeland of Hale, MO, Marilyn Lamker of Monona, IA, Rose Marie Knight of Strawberry Point, IA, Patricia Zach of Monona, IA and special friend, Evie Thompson.She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Roberta; sister-in-law, Irene Fishel; brothers-in-law, Duane Lamker, Dean Knight, Robert Zach and special friend, Barb Bonham.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at 12, NOON at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used toward a local charitable organization. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Clare Meadows, Meadow Ridge, and St. Clare Hospital staff and Dr. Krszjzaniek for the wonderful care shown to Dorothy over the years.
