Glen R. Steinmetz


Glen Robert Steinmetz, 86, of Baraboo passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. Glen was born on May 30, 1929 to Max and Ada (Premo) Steinmetz in Baraboo. He was united in marriage to June Rychecky on July 16, 1950. Glen grew up farming with his family. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and after returning home he worked at American Motor Company and Badger Ordnance. He then worked for 15 years at Kliens, until his retirement. Glen is survived by his children, Robert (Diane) Steinmetz, Dale (Connie) Steinmetz, and Shirley (Cale) Good; four grandsons, Steven (Jenny) Weisheit, Michael (Abby) Steinmetz, Brandon (Theresa Sharkey) Steinmetz, and Tylor Good; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Joseph Steinmetz; and sisters-in-law, Beatrice and Sonja Steinmetz, and Lydia "Cookie" Bailey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his cat, "Kitty".He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lyle and Roy; and sister-in-law, Beverly Steinmetz. A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm Noon on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene of Baraboo with Pastor Jonathan Tipton officiating. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Otter Creek Cemetery in Sumpter Township.
