Vern S. Hanson

Vern Stanley Hanson, 96, of Baraboo passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Our House in Baraboo. He was born on March 15, 1920 to Stanley and Carrie (Vincent) Hanson in the township of Windsor. He was united in marriage to Edna Debeck Hill on April 7, 1956, she preceded him in death on August 10, 1997. He later married Ethel Gerber on June 30, 2001, they shared 14 years together until her passing in April of 2015.Vern was a dairy farmer all of his life, which he truly loved. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.He is survived by his children, Curt (Renee) Hill, Dixie (Ron) Marquardt, Robert (Gaile) Hanson, Dennis Hanson; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters, Helen Oliver, Wanda Kaufman, and Shirley Gay; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.Vern was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna, and wife, Ethel; brothers, Gayle and Glen; sisters, Jacqueline, Joyce, and Ruby.Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow services at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Media Fund at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Greenbriar, Our House, and Agrace Hospice for their loving, compassionate care.
