Violet Elizabeth McMahon


Violet Elizabeth McMahon died peacefully April 6, 2016 at St. Clare Hospital.

Vi was born March 16, 1925 on the family farm in Manitowoc, WI. to Michael and Elizabeth (Kautzer) Wimmer. She was married to Walter C.(Mac) McMahon on May 4, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2005.

Violet is survived by her sons, Greg of Baraboo; Steve (Jane Foster) of Manitowoc; granddaughters, Jessica Kolar (Kevin Crawford); Stacy McMahon(Cory Wetzel); great-grandchildren, Zoe, David, Olivia, Chloe and Cameron all of Baraboo. Brother-in-law Emory (Susie) Stansell of Jacksonville, FL. Vi is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, her husband, Walter, and son, W. Michael. She was the 3rd of eight children and was preceded in death by siblings Margaret, Dorothy, Mark, Louella, Millicent, Jean, Corrine, and their spouses.Vi worked as the secretary to the Baraboo High School principal for 25 years, retiring in June, 1986. She then worked as the adult education coordinator for the Madison Area Technical College classes held in Baraboo.Vi and Mac enjoyed many retirement years at Pioneer Park, Lake Delton and St. James City, FL. When she moved back to Baraboo, Vi lived at Oak Park Place where she rekindled many old friendships and made many new ones. If there was a bridge game, she was happy.A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11:00 am, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH in Baraboo, with Father Jay Poster officiating. Cremation has occurred, and the family will greet family and friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services on Saturday.The family would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Baraboo, where Vi was treated 3 times per week for 5 years. She appreciated and enjoyed the care she received there.We would also like to thank Dr. Rex Flygt and his staff for their years of compassion and patience while treating Violet.Memorials can be made in Violet's name to The Wisconsin Maritime Museum, 75 Maritime Drive, Manitowoc, WI. 54220. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
