Darrell Wayne Puttkamer, age 87 of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Our House Assisted Living. Darrell was born on Jan. 26, 1929 in Baraboo, the son of Herman and Clara Puttkamer. He graduated from Baraboo High School. On March 15, 1952 he married Lorraine Shepherd; she preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1997. He married Verna Sorenson on May 4, 2002; she preceded him in death on July 9, 2006. Darrell grew up and farmed in Fairfield. He worked at Badger Army Ammunition Plant and the Sauk County Highway Dept. Darrell loved traveling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (David) Alwin of Baraboo, Linda (Lonnie) Olson of Wonewoc and Sandy (Donald) Bell of Baraboo; six grandchildren, Brian (Samantha) Alwin, Pamela (Tyson) Duhr, Melody (Paul) Gerriets, Derrick (Cory Weirich) Olson, Todd (Marilee) Bell and Jeff (Susie) Bell; 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Glenn Herndon; friends, Bill (Virginia) Shanks and Bernie Holtz and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eunayne Herndon.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the family. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.Darrell was a wonderful husband and father, he had a strong faith in God and enjoyed attending church; we know he is now in a happy place but we will miss him.
