Vera Candace Dwars


Vera Candace Dwars, age 95 of Baraboo, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo.Vera, the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Bisch) Gomon was born Sept. 21, 1920 in Baraboo. She graduated from Baraboo High School and attended Madison Business College. She was employed for 33 years as Chief Clerk, Employment at Olin Corporation, Badger Army Ammunition Plant before retiring in 1984. On Oct. 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph William Dwars in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1979. Vera was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella and the Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, knitting, canning and baking, playing bingo and praying the rosary.She is survived by a brother, Bernard (Bev) Gomon of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Marini of Baraboo and Elaine (Marvin) Pellett of Shell Lake; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ralph, Vera was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Gomon and Henrietta Marini; as well as a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. There will be a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Parish Annual Fund or St. Vincent de Paul Society, Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
