Clarence E. Harmel


Clarence Edward Harmel, age 91 of Baraboo passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Clare Hospital with his wife by his side. Clarence, son of Edward and Elsie (Stackman) Harmel was born on March 19, 1925 in Baraboo.He attended St. John's Lutheran School. On March 23, 1946 he was united in marriage to Clara Mortensen. Clarence proudly served in the US Army during WW II in Belgium; he received the Purple Heart for his time in the service. Clarence was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the American Legion and VFW. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, collecting miniature trucks and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Clara; children, Connie (Rodger) Dale, Bob Harmel, and Linda (Lee) Petersen; six grandchildren, Matt, Mike, Jennifer, Chris, Victoria, and Kristie; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Doris Woodworth, Maurine Ziegler and Nancy Reimer. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
