Todd James Coates, 50, of Baraboo passed away surrounded by his family on December 31st, 2016, after a heroic battle against brain cancer. Todd was born on September 2, 1966 in Portsmith Naval Hospital, Virginia, to Bonnie and James Coates. Todd was a 1984 graduate of East High School in Madison. While attending Northland College in Ashland, WI, he met his wife Carol and they were united in marriage on December 12, 1986. Todd was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He had a passion for motorcycles and Brotherhood as an active member of the Capital City Riders (CCR) of Madison. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Carol Coates; his children, Travis Coates (Kasha Hennes), Nicole Coates (Ryan Handy-Bass); mother, Bonnie Kalscheur (Steven Kalscheur), father, James Coates (Lori Coates); siblings, Tana (Coates) Blum and Sean Kalscheur; Grandmother, Arlene Coates; Grandchildren, Scarlytte Coates, Southern Coates, and Baby Coates (2017); mother in-law, Dolly Weschler (Sandy), sister in-laws, Debbie Hughes (Joe Hughes) and Jennifer Taylor (Chris Taylor); and brother in-law Thomas Windle (Steph Hart). He joins that Great Party in the Sky with all his beloved Family Members, Friends and CCR Brothers that have gone before him. Per his wishes there will be No Formal Funeral Arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 7th 2017 at 1:00 pm at Frankies Bar, Hwy 113, Baraboo.
