Thelma Capps


Thelma Capps was born Sept. 1, 1922 to Leonard and Opal Rockhill. She had 12 brothers and sisters; one of which being her twin, Velma Tobias. Thelma felt it a privilege to serve in the WAC's during WWII. She was married to Henry Capps and they were blessed with two children, Marvin Capps and Sherry (Capps) Brinkman. Thelma enjoyed many years as a school teacher. She was treasurer of the local WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union). She was an active member and did a lot with coloring contests in the schools. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Henry Capps; second husband, George Fugate; both of her children; six brothers and five sisters.She is survived by her sister, Wanda Terry of Reedsburg; daughter-in-law, Julia Capps of Baraboo; six grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.Thelma lived at Oak Park Place in Baraboo and considered everyone there her extended family. Thelma attended New Life Community Advent Christian Church as long as health permitted. Her never failing faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at New Life Community Advent Christian Church with Pastor Jed Crouse officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Oak Park Place in Baraboo or Agrace Hospice would be appreciated. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
