Eunice McCoy


Eunice McCoy, age 96 of Baraboo, formerly of North Freedom passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at St. Clare Meadows. Eunice, daughter of George and Adela (Koenig) Schutz was born March 17, 1922 in rural North Freedom. She was a graduate of Baraboo High School. On May 16, 1942 she married Allen McCoy; he preceded her in death on June 22, 2009. After their marriage, Allen was drafted to serve overseas in WWII. While Allen was in the Army, Eunice worked at Badger Army Ammunition Plant. When the war ended and Allen returned, they made their home in North Freedom. Eunice was a bookkeeper for John I Hahn and Holiday Wholesale. She was proud to have been elected to serve as the treasurer for the Village of North Freedom for 39 years. Eunice was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom. In her free time she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching and her greatest pleasure was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports.Survivors include her children, Peggy (Patrick) Reiger, Bonnie (Harlyn) Braun; grandchildren, Tammy (Kevin) Stieve, Erin (Luis) Zas, Greg (Jennifer) Anstett and Kelly Zimmer; great grandchildren, Kaitlin Stieve, Emily Stieve, Casey Anstett, Sam Anstett, Adeline Zimmer and Chloe Zimmer. She is further survived by her sister, Lois Schrimpf and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; sisters, Lucille Rhode and Wanda McArthur; brothers-in-law, Virgil Schmidt, Carl Rhode, Robert McArthur and Ralph Schrimpf.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom with Pastor Andrew Meyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom. The family would like to especially thank all the staff at St. Clare Meadows for their loving care given to Eunice the last 4 years of her life.
